WebOct 20, 2015 · 15hp Johnson, model J15RESR. Motor starts but idles rough in nuetral, when in gear it doesnt reach full RPMs and will stall out after a minute or so. Choke needs to stay closed or it will stall. After it stops running gas leaks out of the air intake of the carb. I recently rebuilt both the fuel pump and the carb. When I bought it a few months ago, it was hard to start the first time, but then was fairly easy to start- 5 or 6 pulls- after that over the course of several weeks. I ran it in a barrel with a heavy dose of Seafoam. It would idle as long as I wanted it to- like over an hour at a time.
